1. Core Privacy Principle

The App is designed to minimize data collection. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data unless it is strictly necessary for the App’s basic functionality. All operations and data generated by the App remain stored locally on your device.

2. Permissions and Their Purpose

The App may request the following permissions solely to enable certain core features:

• Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA) – Signal includes a direct capture feature where you can take a picture within the app and quickly send it in a message. This permission is necessary for video calls.
• Record Audio Permission (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO) – Allows you to be heard on voice and video calls, and to record voice messages.
• Storage Permission (android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) – Allows you to be heard on voice and video calls, and to record voice messages.
• Location (android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION,android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) – Allows you to share your current location in messages with your friends. Also used to support an account transfer through Wi-Fi direct.
• read phone status and identity (android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE) – Allows Signal to determine your phone number and Device ID. These are used to register for Signal. Allowed call handling while on a private call and an insecure call comes in. Read more about insecure communication being removed here.
• Contacts(find accounts on the device,read your contacts,modify your contacts) (android.permission.READ_CONTACTS,android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS) – Allows Signal to determine your phone number and Device ID. 3. Data Collection and Storage

We do not operate any backend servers that store or process your personal information. The App does not send data to us or to third parties. All data remain encrypted or stored locally on your device.

4. Third-Party Services

The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not use cookies, device identifiers, or any external data collection mechanisms.

5. Data Security

Because the App does not transmit your data outside your device, the risk of unauthorized access or disclosure is minimal. We still encourage users to keep their device secure with passwords or biometric protection.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not designed for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from minors.
